Young doctors of law, Pavel Smutný and Jaromír Císař, wanted to contribute their share to the emerging democracy and devote their effort to an institute analysing democracy in all contexts. No wonder: both of them had an academic background – they were teaching at Charles University’s Faculty of Law in Prague, they were accustomed to thinking in broad contexts, and the changing world fascinated them. In the end, however, they have built one of the biggest and most respected law firms in the Czech market.
